The New Spartans Website PDF Print E-mail

Mission

The mission of the website is to promote us as a club, Phalanx as a show and the hobby in general. Its here for us as members to share games stories, campaign journals, pictures and articles. Its role as a tool for the members will be to offer quick access to related web content for visitors who find a particular game interesting and want to know more.

    Website Features

    Self Maintained

In practical terms this will mean we can control our own website. We can add or delete articles and pages. We can upload images to the Gallery, create new Gallery sections and move images from one Gallery to another. We can control the sections on the Phalanx website without having to wait for a third party to add our content. News and articles on games and campaigns can be updated with easy, a big part of this upgrade is the ability for everyone to add content. We can do reviews of shows and also promote other clubs & shows in a reciprocal manner.

    Gallery

The Gallery section of our site is very important, I have created some basic sections within the Gallery based on period and I now urge everyone to take pictures and send them to me for uploading to the Website, or if you are confident enough upload them yourself. If you don't have a nice camera use a phone camera. These days phone camera technology is good enough for basic webpage images. If you think we should add another Gallery section then let me know and I will create it for you, what's in there at the moment is just a basic Gallery configuration, things can and I am sure will change.

    Club News

Now the site is up and running its looks great but the true test of a club website is not how it looks but how it is used. Simply put we need content, the more the merrier. I want to see a regular supply of information on games coming from all tables in the club not just one or two. What you should think about is how much more interesting a game is to read about afterwards when someone has summarised the game in an articles, added a few funny comments, and brought that attack on the British left that failed because of a morale test to life with a cutting review!

If you are running a Campaign then please post the status of your campaign on our site! Why not start with a summary of the campaign so far and then plan an update to the articles after each session. Treat it like a Blog and keep it current. Its also very useful to your players if they can read about the status of the campaign when they miss a week or two. It keeps them wanting more especially when their troops become the spotlight for a week or two.

I have split the club news into various sections based on the types of games we run. I can sub divide sections further into for example Game Sessions / Campaigns. please let me know your thoughts.

    Links To Other Websites

I expect to post all the links we have to Clubs, Traders, Shows, Game Systems, reviews, and general hobby related articles in this section. Again your club needs you! please send me links to sites, articles, shows, reviews, etc so I can start posting them. Even better why not post them yourself.
